The Dutch settled here in 1652, although it was first seen by Portuguese navigators (Pirates probably!) in 1500.
This Atlantic Ocean bay gained its name from the overlooking Table Mountain and extends 12 mi (19 km) by 8 mi (12.9 km) - perfect for a hearty pirate to charter course to Robben Island in search of treasure.
The harbour is South Africa's oldest and houses the V & A Waterfront, the country's most visited tourist destination and a veritable treasure chest itself. The working harbour hosts cargo vessels, fishing boats and even luxury cruise liners on stop over’s as they make their way around the world.
But there is not boat as can match the Jolly Roger!
